Abstract

An experiment was conducted in the month of October-November 2006-2007 to study the effect of different dozes of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on growth and yield of olive. Experiment was laid out in a randomized block design factorial with sixty four treatments consisting of four levels of nitrogen (N₁=300g/tree, N₂=400g/tree, N₃=600g/tree and N₄=750g/tree), phosphorus (P₁=200g/tree, P₂=300g/tree, P₃=400g/tree and P₄=500g/tree) and potassium (K₁=200g/tree, K₂=300g/tree, K₃=400g/tree and K₄=500g/tree). All the treatments replicated thrice and the treatment unit was a single tree. The highest mean rate of shoot development 7.33 x 10^-3 cm day^-1, mean rate of leaf appearance 1.267 x 10^-1 day^-1, NPK content level 2.417% and yield 17.0 kg/tree was recorded with N₄ level (Nitrogen @ 750g/tree) and phosphorus and potassium did not show any significant effect.
